New for this season, the American series Staunton chessmen in sheesham ( golden rosewood) and boxwood, matched with our popular European walnut and maple chess board. This set measures almost 20 inches in width and has a king height of 3 3/4 inches. This set is slightly larger than our British sheesham and walnut set. The detailing of these chess pieces is a little more intricate with a more charismatic Knight and more detailing on the Bishop and Rooks. They also feature slightly wider bases throughout.
The Spanish made chessboard is a veneer design and is made to exacting standards. The whole board is coated in a light sheen lacquer which helps protect and makes cleaning much easier. A traditional Staunton chess set that is well made yet won't break the bank.
