Blue Metropolis Chess Set

An interesting deviation from the traditional wooden chess board and chess piece collaboration. Both the board and pieces are designed and manufactured by professional chess artisans Italfama of Italy. The solid Brass and Nickel plated Brass chess pieces are very special indeed, with understated, modenrist character. They are a good weight and feel nicely balanced one's hand. They are hand turned then sealed from tarnishing with a robust clear lacquer. The design of these pieces harks back to the art deco period of the early twentieth century. The pieces are fitted with red felt pads on their underside to protect the playing surface and are presented in a quality cardboard presentation box, thus making them making them the perfect gift. The Italian made erable burr and elmwood in blue is a visual masterpiece. Finished in a very high gloss lacquer, the wood grain and knotting of the burr wood looks almost 3D under the vivid lacquer. The inlaid squares are bordered with a thin band of real ebony that sections off the checkerboard from the border. The underside of the board is wooden veneer and also lacquered in the same high gloss finish. A really expressive and unique chess pieces and board partnership that will add colour and character to any household room.
