New for 2013, the Apple Design chess pieces are hand made from Sheesham and Yellow Boxwood. This distinctive fruit shaped design is a nice retreat from the ubiquitous Staunton design. The pieces are well balanced for such a unorthodox shape and feel ergonomic & comfortable in the hand. Although the design is a serious departure, there are subtle references to Staunton making it very easy to distinguish one chess piece from another.
